National & regional media relations for top accounting, professional services firm
Now the firm’s national agency of record, Akrete was originally hired to help launch a new flagship office in Chicago for MGO LLP, one of the fastest growing professional services, accounting and advisory services firms in the US. The new women-run office serves a rapidly growing roster of clients across the Midwest in a wide array of industries ranging from cannabis, life sciences and manufacturing to real estate. Nationally the firm is one of the top accounting firms in the cannabis industry, representing some of the country’s top publicly traded MSOs as well as a wide variety of professional athletes, media personalities and those in need of technology consulting and wealth management services.
Nationally we have focused on the firm’s information security consulting division and MGO Wealth Management as well as the firm’s cannabis practice. For the launch of the Chicago office, our marketing and PR efforts focused on a targeted media launch strategy to introduce MGO as a new player in the local market, facilitate media requests for interviews, draft thought leadership pieces and place bylined articles in targeted publications and secure speaking and sponsorship opportunities.
For the Chicago program, within a short seven months, Akrete helped to positively raise the brand profile of MGO’s new Chicago office and its leadership team. The PR program earned a total of 37+ media placements including a bylined article on financial literacy tips for women in Arianna Huffington’s Thrive Global and a sponsored Roundtable on Tax Strategies with Crain’s Chicago Business.
Total coverage reached 47+ million people, attracting potential new hires, professional contacts, and new business prospects. Other marketing tactics included the development and placement of innovative thought leadership, including one on real estate tax incentives for cannabis companies in RE Journals.
We secured sponsorship of the GrownIn Cannabis & Capital Summit and a speaking opportunity moderating a panel on cannabis company valuation. We also enhanced the firm’s social media presence with content development, increased engagement and connections on LinkedIn, shared thought leadership pieces, some of which received more than 6,500 views combined.
Our work representing the firm on a national basis began in late 2021 and already includes opportunities with a wide variety of national business, trade and regional media.
