Elise’s experience and passion for media ensures her delivery of relevant angles, reporters and publications resulting in media placements for clients in such outlets as Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and more. A 2017 graduate of George Washington University’s School of Communication, Elise has honed her media relations, content creation and social media skills in the university setting and her work experiences at Steinreich Communications, Brandstyle Communications and Akrete. She’s worked with clients in multiple industries, including robotics, technology, finance, lifestyle and fashion.
Q&A with Elise Szwajkowski
What is your favorite part of working in PR?
I love the thrill that comes with securing media opportunities and being a part of the exciting, innovative work of clients. I have worked for clients in industries spanning from robotic to tech and finance from real estate to fashion. I really enjoy the opportunity to showcase our clients’ work and reveal their amazing visions in the media.
If you could drink with anyone from history who would it be?
Princess Diana. It would be interesting to know her personally – to learn what happened behind closed doors at Buckingham Palace, beyond the glimpses offered by the media.
What do you when you are facing a creative block?
I take a walk outside, grab some coffee and listen to the top three songs on my playlist on repeat until I feel inspired.
One piece of advice you would offer to someone trying to enter the PR industry?
PR is all about pitching companies, so believing in the material you are pitching is crucial. You have to have passion about the clients and their content in order to be a part of their mission.
How long have you been working in PR?
I’m approaching my three-year anniversary in PR, including work in multiple cities and industries.
What is a song to describe your work ethic?
“Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor. I feel like it mirrors my attitude of getting in the zone during pitching.
What do you like to do in your spare time? Hobbies? etc…
I usually like taking a run outside or grabbing drinks with my friends.
What is your favorite book?
Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. It’s a classic.
What are three interesting facts about you?
Quote you live by and why?
“To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart,” from Eleanor Roosevelt. I think I live my life by this quote in a lot of ways, I consider myself a logical person however I think with my heart when it comes to things like work, family and friends.
