Q&A with Lana Demyankyk
What is your favorite part of working in PR?
My favorite thing about working in PR is getting a behind-the-scenes look and better understanding of how media works. I am able to better understand how I consume media. I’ve also gained professional insight into how to communicate in professional business settings, and how businesses are run from the back-end.
If you could drink with anyone from history who would it be?
I would love to have coffee with Catherine the Great. She was the longest-ruling female of Russia. She developed a school system and built up and supported arts and theater at a time where female rulers were not the norm.
What do you when you are facing a creative block?
I try to change up my environment by going for a walk and getting out of the space that I’m in.
One piece of advice you would offer to someone trying to enter the PR industry?
When you’re applying for internships or a job at a company, seek out a mentor who can help you navigate the industry. Especially if you’re unfamiliar with PR like I was when I started.
How long have you been working in PR?
What is a song to describe your work ethic?
Work by Rihanna:
What do you like to do in your spare time? Hobbies? etc…
I’m a skincare and science junky, so I like reading articles that touch on both topics. In my spare time, I also enjoy reading, spending Sundays with my family and helping my father with his contracting business writing proposals, communicating with his clients and preparing and sending out invoices.
What is your favorite book?
Anything written by Agatha Christie. My goal is to get through her entire collection of novels. “Crooked House” is a good one.
“If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again,” said by author William E. Hickson. If the first time you don’t achieve something, it’s important to remember to never give up on your goals.
